How to Cook Pasta

Cold pasta salad recipes usually combine chicken, seafood or vegetables with pasta and some kind of dressing. They are delicious and very popular at gatherings.

First, let’s talk about pasta.

Do you know the 6 rules of cooking perfect pasta? Watch this video for the answer.

And let me ask you another question: do you rinse your pasta after it’s cooked? Well I always do but I just found out I should only do this when the pasta is used in a cold dish…which applies here.

You’ll want to use the pasta shape suggested in the recipes. But what if you don’t have that particular shape in your pantry, can you replace it with another shape? Pick a pasta that has lots of nooks and crannies to hold a nice coating of the dressing.

I’m no expert and would not call myself a “cook” by any means.

So when I put together pasta salads, I definitely follow the recipes and the kind of pasta to use, or replace it according the rule mentioned above.

But when it comes to the ingredients, these I might change according to what I have on hand or what we like.

Have you been delegated to make a pasta salad for your next potluck or family picnic? Then let’s see which recipe you would like to try.
